OUR FOCUS AREA

Our focus area

OHRI’s work is built on the belief that human health, animal health, environmental health, mental wellbeing, and climate resilience are inseparably connected.
Our focus areas reflect the breadth of challenges communities face and the integrated solutions needed to build a resilient future.

  1.  One Health, AMR & Integrated Disease Prevention

We advance a holistic One Health approach that protects people, animals, and the environment. Our interventions address:

    • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
    • Zoonotic disease risks
    • Environmental contamination
    • Hygiene and behavioural practices.

We engage communities, farmers, and health actors to reduce disease threats and strengthen long-term public health resilience.

  1. Public Health & Community Health Promotion

We improve the wellbeing of women, children, and vulnerable groups by promoting:

      • Safe water and sanitation
      • Hygiene practices
      • Climate-responsive health behaviours
      • Community-led health education

By supporting PHC facilities and community health actors, we reduce preventable illnesses and strengthen everyday wellbeing.

  1. Climate Change & Heat Resilience

Rising temperatures are already endangering lives. We offer communities:

    • Heat-safety awareness
    • Early-warning communication
    • Climate-health education
    • Practical coping and adaptation strategies

Our focus is to protect those most affected by heat: women, children, elderly people, outdoor workers, and displaced families

  1. Environmental Health & Pollution Control

We confront hazards that are harming urban and rural communities generator fumes, cooking smoke, open burning, traffic pollution, and waste mismanagement. Our programs promote:

    • Cleaner household environments
    • Air-quality awareness
    • Community-led pollution reduction
    • Healthier, safer living spaces
  1. Ecosystem Protection & Natural Resource Management

Healthy ecosystems protect lives. We support communities to safeguard:

    • Water sources
    • Forests
    • Vegetation and green spaces
    • Soil and land resources

Our initiatives promote sustainable practices that help communities adapt to climate impacts and protect their livelihoods.
