People we have help

Leading charity platform in world.

We work at the intersection of public health, climate change, environmental protection, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), biodiversity, mental wellbeing, systems strengthening, and community empowerment.

Our mission is rooted in the One Health approach   the understanding that the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems are interconnected, and that resilient communities can only be built through holistic, evidence-driven, and community-led solutions.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Integrity: We uphold transparency, trust, and accountability.
  • Inclusivity: We center women, youth, and vulnerable groups.

What We Do

OHRI delivers high-impact programs at the intersection of climate change, community health, mental wellbeing, ecosystem protection, and One Health systems strengthening. Our core areas of work include:

Climate Change & Heat Resilience

Supporting communities to prepare for extreme temperatures, reduce heat-related illness, and strengthen adaptive capacity.

Air Quality & Pollution Reduction

Reducing exposure to harmful indoor and outdoor air pollution through community awareness, clean practices, and locally-driven innovations.

Mental Health & Community Wellbeing

Addressing climate-related stress, eco-anxiety, displacement trauma, and environmental shock through awareness, psychosocial support approaches, and safe community spaces.

Ecosystem & Environmental Protection

Promoting sustainable management of land, water, vegetation, and natural resources essential for community health and environmental stability.

Biodiversity Conservation

Supporting community-led efforts to protect local biodiversity, restore degraded environments, and preserve natural habitats that sustain livelihoods.

One Health & Disease Prevention

Integrating human, animal, and environmental health strategies to reduce disease risks, promote hygiene, ensure safer environments, and improve public health outcomes.

Why We Exist

Nigeria’s communities face mounting health and environmental risks driven by climate change, pollution, resource degradation, and emerging diseases. Women, children, and low-income groups disproportionately bear these burdens. OHRI was created to bridge the gap between community needs, scientific evidence, and policy action ensuring that resilience is built from the ground up through empowered communities and strengthened systems.

Where We Work

OHRI works across Nigeria with active programs and partnerships in:

  • North-East:Adamawa, Gombe
  • North-West:Jigawa, Kano
  • North-Central:Abuja (FCT)
  • Additional states through collaborations and network expansion.

Our Approach

Our model is built on:
