Mai-Abba Ishiyaku Abdullahi is Lecturer in Plant Biology at Federal University Dutse, he specialize in Plant Pathology. His core expertise lies in plant-fungal epidemiology, biocontrol development, and post-harvest pathology areas critical to food safety and agricultural sustainability. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the One Health Resilience Initiative (OHRI), he translates this knowledge into practice by championing integrated approaches that link plant health, environmental quality, and human wellbeing, directly addressing foodborne disease risks, climate-resilient farming, and community health awareness in semi-arid regions of Nigeria.
He drives the organisation as the Programs and Technical Manager, leading multi-sectoral programs that link climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and community health across Northeast Nigeria training farmers in climate-smart agriculture, planting trees, and reaching beneficiaries with integrated solutions to food security, AMR awareness, and disaster risk reduction.
She advances the One Health approach by bridging human health, agricultural livelihoods, and environmental sustainability through her Monitoring & Evaluation work integrating public health programming with nutrition-sensitive agribusiness, climate-smart agricultural practices, and environmental impact monitoring, while strengthening food security and community resilience across rural households in Nigeria.
She serves as OHRI’s Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer, applying her expertise in GBV case management, psychosocial support, and community health monitoring to ensure that our Health programs are delivered safely, equitably, and with dignity for all beneficiaries especially the most vulnerable.
